Safari vs. Chrome : Which is Better Browser for iOS 13?

October 9, 2019 By HipStore

The internet has probably been the most valuable human-made resource since the turn of the millennium. The percentage of netizens is increasing at an exponential rate. This is mostly due to the internet’s ability to provide a hassle-free means of instant communication to people who live seven seas apart. Apart from that, the internet is also an all-knowing being, having information on even the most obscure topics known to humanity. However, the utility of the internet is much more than a networking enterprise or a search engine.

The internet has become a global marketplace, and most of the significant business transactions, interviews, job applications, etc. are carried out through this platform. The internet is such a paramount resource that it has become a necessity for the common man. At its bare bones, the internet is just a complicated network of interconnected systems that can exchange information in between themselves. Consumers need not concern themselves with the technical intricacies but can access the internet using web browsers.

At current, web browsers have a specialized version for all the major Operating Systems, including Windows, Android, and iOS. However, two of the most popular options in this department is that of Chrome and Safari. Let’s learn a little more about these two applications.

The Safari | Browser by Apple for iOS 13

Safari is a graphics-based web browser developed by its parent company, Apple. They used the patented protocols of the Webkit engine to develop the product for the various Apple products. The first version was designed for the Mac OS X Panther desktop, and further versions are also optimized for the iOS systems, Android, and even Windows. However, the Windows version was disbanded after 2012. Currently, the Safari browser is on its twelfth iteration, with impressive features such as suggesting improved and secure passwords, adjustable zoom for individual web pages, a device-specific split page view option, and many others.

The Google Chrome | Browser by Google for iOS 13

The multinational Information Technology Company Google developed the web browser Chrome. The project was initiated with its primary selling point being a robust cross-platforming ability. It was first released in 2008 for the Windows OS. Newer versions were developed for Linux, iOS, Android, and other major platforms. The original source code is integrated into the open-source Chromium Project. However, the browsers also used to include rendering components of the Webkit engine. Currently, it uses the Blink rendering engine, but the iOS version continues to use the Webkit engine. The latest version includes many innovative features such as online application support, autofill options, and an extensive library of other extensions.

Safari vs. Google Chrome: Which is better for iOS 13?

From a technical standpoint, the Safari was explicitly developed for the iOS platform and hence is far better optimized for the iOS 13 system in then the Chrome browser. However, the same narrow-minded approach also reduces the functionality of the application in terms of cross-platform accessibility.

Safari integrates pretty well with most other Apple devices. It also takes up much less of the system memory, and hence drains less of the battery, as compared to the Chrome browser. Although there isn’t as extensive of an app store as Chrome, the Safari is power-packed with some nifty apps in its interface. Apple also historically monitor less of your data as compared to Google. Thus, on the count of security and privacy, the Safari trumps the Chrome browser.

Overall, despite some drawbacks, Safari remains the better of the two browser choices when it comes to the iOS 13 system.
